About the Opportunity
Flight Centre Limited is consistently recognized as one of Australia's Best Employers and we're growing fast! We have a career defining opportunity for a Java Software Developer to work from our global head office in Brisbane.
We're looking for someone to join us in this exciting position of analysis, design and development of software through the full SDLC and support and maintenance of a major J2EE application in a global company.
More specifically, you will be involved in the following:
- Designing, developing and testing of JavaTM software development projects using agile development methodology;
- Delivering high quality software using test-driven development with responsibility for code reviews, and promoting continuous improvement in software development practices;
- Managing and resolving incidents and problems relating to the maintenance and support of a J2EE application; and
- Developing and managing relationships with customers to facilitate delivery of IT services.
To be considered for this position, you must have a minimum 2 years practical experience in commercial software development combined with the ability to successfully deliver software to agreed quality, time, specification and budget targets.
In addition, you must also have strong knowledge of Java web based applications and J2EEm along with SQL and experience in at least one enterprise level DBMS. Competence in object-orientated application design and development principles is also essential.
Flight Centre would love to hear from candidates who have had exposure to Weblogic, and Java frameworks such as Struts, Spring and Web Services. Ideally, you will also have experience in the following areas, although it is not essential:
- Software analysis and design
- Data design and management
- Software testing
- Agile development methologies
- ITIL processess & CMMi process improvement
- Large and small project environments, especially within the travel industry.
